NATIONAL WASTE AWARENESS DAY 2026: PT UKK’s Real Action for a Greener Indonesia

National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN) is commemorated every year on February 21 to remember the tragic waste landfill landslide at Leuwigajah Landfill (TPA Leuwigajah) on February 21, 2005. This event serves as an important reminder of the critical role of proper waste management in preventing negative impacts on the environment and public health.

The commemoration aims to increase public awareness of integrated waste management practices, starting from waste separation to recycling, while encouraging the commitment and participation of all stakeholders in addressing waste-related challenges.

PT Usaha Kita Kinerjatama (UKK) also participated in the National Waste Awareness Day 2026 by organizing various activities under the theme “COLLABORATION FOR A SUSTAINABLE INDONESIA (SAFE, HEALTHY, CLEAN, AND BEAUTIFUL)”.

The implementation of these activities was carried out by considering different types of waste, including residual waste, recyclable waste, and organic waste, as part of PT UKK’s commitment to supporting responsible waste management and creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.

PT UKK Jetty Beach Clean-Up Action

On Tuesday, February 17, 2025, PT Usaha Kita Kinerjatama (UKK) conducted a beach clean-up activity centered at the PT UKK Jetty area.

This activity represents the company’s commitment to supporting environmental preservation efforts and increasing awareness among employees and surrounding communities about the importance of responsible waste management, particularly in coastal areas.

The National Waste Awareness Day commemoration activity aligns with PT UKK’s commitment to supporting environmental programs and implementing sustainability principles in every aspect of the company’s operations.

The company recognizes that operational success is not only measured by production performance but also by its responsibility and commitment to protecting the environment.

RECYCLING USED WASTE: CREATING PLANT POTS

Waste management through recycling activities, such as transforming used waste into plant pots, is one of the effective ways to reduce waste volume while increasing the value and usability of discarded materials, particularly used plastic bottles.

Through simple processes of sorting, cleaning, and processing, waste that was previously considered worthless can be transformed into functional and aesthetically pleasing planting media. This initiative not only supports waste reduction at the source but also raises public awareness of the importance of sustainable environmental management while encouraging creativity in reusing discarded materials.

In addition to being transformed into plant pots, recyclable waste can also be delivered to TPST3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Integrated Waste Processing Facility) for more professional processing, including further sorting to ensure that materials can be recycled or reused effectively.
